Chicken Tikka Masala Recipe (Indian Traditional Dish)
Ingredients:
- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tbsp grated ginger
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tbsp grated ginger
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 cup tomato puree
- 1 cup heavy cream
- Chopped fresh cilantro for garnish
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, combine the chicken, yogurt, lemon juice, garlic, ginger, cumin, coriander, turmeric, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper. Stir everything together and let the chicken marinate for at least 30 minutes or overnight in the refrigerator.
- Preheat the oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and spread the chicken out in a single layer. Bake for 15-20 minutes until the chicken is cooked through and lightly browned.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, heat the vegetable oil. Add the chopped onion and cook for 2-3 minutes until softened.
- Add the minced garlic, grated ginger, cumin, coriander, turmeric, and cayenne pepper to the skillet. Cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add the tomato puree to the skillet and stir well. Cook for 5-7 minutes until the tomato puree has thickened.
- Add the heavy cream to the skillet and stir well. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the sauce has thickened.
- Add the cooked chicken to the skillet and stir to coat it with the sauce.
- Garnish the chicken tikka masala with chopped fresh cilantro and serve with basmati rice or naan bread.
